Patrick Miolane, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

Flag of France

The Miolane estate is an ancient family-run business, which, in true Burgundian fashion, has been handed down through the generations. Patrick Miolane took control in 1983, at the age of twenty, and now works with his daughter Barbara, who joined the team in 2005. The duo work the whole of the estate on lutte raisonnée principles, with the aim of conserving the environment and reducing chemical treatments to a minimum. Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Les Perrieres" 2019 is made from 100% Pinot Noir, taken from south facing, 50-year-old vines. An intense, deep ruby in colour with garnet rim, it has a nose of ripe red cherries and wild strawberries, underscored by subtle hints of raspberry. These vibrant fruit scents are complemented by a delicate earthiness, with nuances of damp forest floor, dried leaves, and a touch of cedar. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, providing structure without overwhelming the wine, and ensuring a velvety smooth texture with balanced acidity. It has a lingering finish that echoes the red fruit and earthy notes; an exceptional wine which will certainly leave a lasting impression.
